Overlooking the Mohawk River, Hoffman’s Ferry will be a destination for craft distilling and a celebration of New York produced spirits, wine, beer, and cider.
The former Riverside Maple Farm was purchased by Tony Hynes, owner/CEO of PVA and the Adirondack Barrel Cooperage, to create a place where you can experience the distilling process from beginning to end. At Hoffman’s Ferry, you will be able to see where barrels are made, how whiskey and other spirits are distilled, and where they are stored…you’ll even be able to taste the spirits produced on the property!
Hoffman’s Ferry is named in honor of the ferry that was established in 1790 by Harmanus Vedder and then bought by J. Hoffman in 1835, which is when the hamlet also became known as Hoffman’s Ferry. The location was an important point for the residents of the area featuring a bustling railroad stop and a post office.
The historic farmhouse on the property was owned by the Van Epps family. Much of what we know about the property and area is due to Percy Van Epps, who was a historian specializing in the Glenville area.
Follow along as we renovate the farm and for exciting things to come!
